Campbell, U.S. treaty commissioner, to General David B. Mitchell (former Governor of Georgia 1809-1813, 1815-1817). Campbell remarks on a land case associated with Willoughby Bankston. Campbell discusses recent unrest surrounding an unnamed treaty (probably the Treaty of Indian Springs with the Creeks, February 12, 1825) and indicates that despite the effect it may have on the agent's image, he will have to bear it in order to ensure ratification of the controversial treaty that ceded nearly all remaining Creek lands in Georgia. The agent referred to is probably John Crowell.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc063</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 04, folder 18, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indian agents</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1825 Mar. 12, Wilkes [County, Georgia to] Gen[era]l D[avid] B.
