Levy placed this notice in response to an ad that was printed in the South Carolina Gazette, publicizing the intended sale of Ossabaw and Sapelo Islands in the Georgia colony. In response to the ad, Levy announces that he has the legal title to that property, having purchased it from Thomas and Mary Bosomworth (a.k.a. Mary Musgrove or Coosaponakeesa) who had reportedly received the land from the Creek Indians. He further states that he plans to petition his case before the British Crown and warns potential buyers that their purchase of the land(s) may not be legitimate. A handwritten note on the back of Levy's ad indicates that it was published in the South Carolina Gazette.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc042</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 02, folder 63, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indian land transfers</dc:subject><dc:subject>Levy, Isaac</dc:subject><dc:subject>Musgrove, Mary, 1700-1765</dc:subject><dc:title>Advertisement, 1759 Sept. 13, Philadelphia / Isaac Levy</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
