Levy claims that he purchased land that included Ossabaw and Sapelo Islands from Thomas and Mary Bosomworth (a.k.a. Mary Musgrove or Coosaponakeesa). He traces the history of the ownership of the land, citing treaties and agreements, in an attempt to show that the Bosomworths were granted the land by the Creeks and had a right to sell it to him. Alarmed to have seen an advertisement for the sale of the land in the South Carolina Gazette, Levy begs leave to prove to the British government that he is the current rightful owner.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc041</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 02, folder 62, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indian land transfers</dc:subject><dc:subject>Bosomworth, Thomas</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Legal status, laws, etc.</dc:subject><dc:subject>Levy, Isaac</dc:subject><dc:subject>Musgrove, Mary, 1700-1765</dc:subject><dc:title>Petition of Isaac Levy, 1759 Dec. 15</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
