The author (unknown) argues for the Creeks' "natural" right to the land and emphasizes their authority to sell it, pointing to treaties between the British Trustees and the Creek Nation(s) in 1733 (Treaty of Savannah) and 1739 (Treaty of Coweta). Thomas Bosomworth was the third husband of Mary Musgrove (a.k.a. Mary Bosomworth or Coosaponakeesa) to whom the Creeks had reportedly granted certain disputed lands.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc039</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 02, folder 58, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Legal status, laws, etc.</dc:subject><dc:title>[Legal claim pertaining to the private purchase of Creek Indian land]</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
