Miles(?) in St. Augustine, Florida to James K. Tefft, an attorney in Savannah, Georgia. Miles(?) writes of a recent movement of two hundred men under General Joseph M. Hernandez into Indian country south of St. Augustine and remarks on the absurdity of such an action, particularly in advance of the start of the campaign under General Thomas S. Jesup (likely associated with the Second Seminole War, 1835-1842). He asserts that the Indian situation must be handled with discretion and this military movement is clearly unwise.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc028</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 01, folder 30, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Seminole War, 2nd, 1835-1842</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1836 Sept. 9, St. Augustine, [Florida to] J[ames] K.
