Bryan refers to a section of land that was formerly part of the Broken Arrow Town, a Creek Indian settlement. This property, according to General Sanford's book of land certification, was sold and certified to Fontaine. Bryan indicates that a claim, possibly fraudulent, has been made on that section of land, and he asks Fontaine for a copy of his deed to prove ownership.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>jft009</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, John Fontaine Papers, box 02, folder 1841 February, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indian land transfers</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1841 Feb. 4, Washington, D.C., [to] John Fontaine, Columbus, Georgia / Joseph Bryan</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
