Sevier states that the treaty negotiations with the Cherokees have failed and that some of the state commissioners would not be returning for the next treaty meeting. Sevier asks Steele to appoint one or two commissioners from the state to take their places, and he recommends Gen. James Robertson.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Libraries in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>gs049</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>Manuscript held by the The Tennessee State Library and Archives, Nashville, TN, Governor Sevier , box 1, folder 6, document tl049.</dc:publisher><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1798 July 15, Knoxville, [Tennessee to] John Steele / John Sevier of an image</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
