Sevier writes on behalf of a woman named Lillian Williams who was taken prisoner by Creeks several years ago. Williams gave birth while she was among the Creeks, and since her daughter was born in the Creek Nation, she was not released with her mother. Sevier requests that Hawkins make enquiries regarding the whereabouts and possible release of the girl named Molly Williams or Esnahatchee.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Libraries in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>gs042</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>Manuscript held by the The Tennessee State Library and Archives, Nashville, TN, Governor Sevier, box 1, folder 3, document tl042.</dc:publisher><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Hostages</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indian agents</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Legal status, laws, etc.</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, 1797 Apr. 26, Knoxville, [Tennessee to] Benjamin Hawkins / J[ohn] S[evier] of an image</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
