Sevier sends his apologies for several recent attacks upon Cherokee Indians, and he promises to do his best to seek out the perpetrators of the crimes. He warns Dinsmoor that the Cherokees should not retaliate since a war would bring about the destruction of the Cherokee Nation.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Libraries in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>gs031</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>Manuscript held by the Tennessee State Library and Archives, Nashville, TN, Governor Sevier, box 1, folder 3, document tl031.</dc:publisher><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Violence against</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, 1797 Feb. 10, Knoxville, [Tennessee to] Silas Dinsmore [i.e., Dinsmoor] / John Sevier</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
