Clarke informs Cleaveland that he has recently left Augusta where it is expected that a treaty will soon be concluded with the Creeks. He notes that Creek leader Alexander McGillivray is believed to be en route with over two thousand Indians. Clarke also comments that the Creeks were dissatisfied with not having received a talk from the Americans in some time. He further remarks that horses were stolen recently from the Oconee River area and alleges that Creeks are responsible.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>ecl001</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Elijah Clarke, box N/A, folder N/A, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1789 June 24, Hickory Grove [to] Col[onel] Benj[ami]n Cleavland, Franklin County, [Georgia] / Elijah Clarke</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
