Troup, Governor of Georgia (1823-1827), concerning the safety of Hawkins' son Ben (not to be confused with the U.S. Agent to the Creeks who died in 1816). Hawkins says that he was informed by "friendly" (Creek ?) Indians that his son is disliked among some "hostile" Indians, and he asks the governor to warn his son of possible danger before he travels back home through the (Creek ?) Nation. Hawkins also mentions that he has been engaged in attempting to recover property allegedly stolen from his sons by the Indians.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>cmt016</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, C.
