The author (believed to be William Holland Thomas) responds to a complaint made against him, regarding the misuse of Cherokee funds. The author explains that there were several Cherokee witnesses who would attest to the fact that proper payments have been received by them, and he specifically mentions that Jim Woodpecker and Dickageeskih, chiefs of Sand Town and Buffalo Town, respectively, would testify in his defense if called upon.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Libraries in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>cm148</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>Manuscript held by the Cherokee Museum, Cherokee, NC, William Holland Thomas, box 1.</dc:publisher><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Claims</dc:subject><dc:subject>Embezzlement</dc:subject><dc:title>[Fragment of a letter, 1835-1860?] / [William H.
