Cavanah explains that at the end of last year several Indians came to his plantation demanding the return of their horses, having believed that Cavanah was one of the men who had stolen them. Cavanah denied the charge and accompanied the men on a search for the guilty party which partially convinced them that he was innocent of the theft. He says he is still afraid for his family and horses because the Indians have come to his house again. Mr. (Benjamin ?) Hawkins is mentioned.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image of original manuscript, scanned by the University of Georgia Libraries in 2000, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>cim001</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Creek Indian Manuscripts, box 01, folder 01, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Claims</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:title>Affidavit [of] Wiliam [?] Cavanah [?], 1798 Jan. 28, Jefferson County, Georgia / sworn to [by] Wiliam [?] Cavanah [?]</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
