Campbell, christens the Felix Riesenberg in a ceremony held in the shipyard of the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Probably named for American naval historian Felix Riesenberg (1879-1939), the Felix Riesenberg was the seventy-second ship built by the J.A. Jones Construction  Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Its keel was laid November 16, 1944.
