Much of the propulsion machinery had been installed. The shaft tunnel is visible. The bulkheads and decks are being added. One of the "SAM" ships lent to Great Britain under lend lease terms, the Samlorian was the thirty-ninth ship built by the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia.
