Transylvania Club float in the Kaolin Festival parade whose theme was Parade of Progress. The float depicts one of the twelve historical plates designed by Louise Irwin and manufactured by the Wedgewood Company. The plates had been commissioned by the Transylvania Club of Sandersville to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Georgia. In 1974 House Resolution 573 designated these as the official Georgia Historical Plates. Kaolin, a major ingredient in Wedgewood, is a major industry in the county.
