Washington County Courthouse. This structure was built circa 1870 by Greene Brantley and J. W. Renfroe. In 1899 it was remodeled. That may have been when the clock tower which boasts a Seth Thomas clock was added. Note the eagle atop the tower. The monument at the left is to Governor Jared Irwin, a resident of the county. The bandstand was erected circa 1898 and today houses the Chamber of Commerce.</dc:description><dc:description>2003/07/10: The Washington County Courthouse still stands and was remodeled in 1987.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-CR/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Courthouses--Georgia--Washington County</dc:subject><dc:subject>Bandstands--Georgia--Sandersville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Monuments--Georgia--Sandersville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Architecture--Georgia--Sandersville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia--Politics and government--Sandersville</dc:subject><dc:title>[Photograph of Washington County Courthouse, Sandersville, Washington County, Georgia, 192-]</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
