Citizens and members of military service groups gather in front of the Hall County Courthouse to hear speeches as part of the V-E Day activities. This courthouse, located on Roosevelt Square, was built in 1936 after the previous one had been destroyed by a tornado which struck the city April 6, 1936. The Federal Building can be seen in the right background. It was located at the corner of Green and Spring Streets. It was completed ca. 1935 and housed the U.S. Courthouse and an addition to the U.S. Post Office.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-CR/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Courthouses--Georgia--Hall County</dc:subject><dc:subject>Parades--Georgia--Gainesville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Armed Forces--Georgia--Gainesville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Special events--Georgia--Gainesville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cities and towns--Georgia--Gainesville</dc:subject><dc:subject>World War, 1914-1918--Anniversaries, etc.</dc:subject><dc:title>[Photograph of a V-E day parade and festivities in front of the Courthouse, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, 1945 May 8]</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
