This public school was located on College Street and completed in 1903. J.W. Golucke was the architect. The cost was $6000.00. The two-story brick building served students in grades 1-9, the only grades offered at that time. In 1917 after a building to house high school students was constructed adjacent to it, elementary students continued to attend it. In 1974 the First Baptist Church acquired the College Street property. The buildings were demolished to make way for the First Baptist Church which was completed in 1976.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-CR/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Architecture--Georgia--Calhoun</dc:subject><dc:subject>Education--Georgia--Calhoun</dc:subject><dc:subject>Schools--Georgia--Gordon County</dc:subject><dc:title>[Photograph of public school, Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia, 1903]</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
