Governor Jimmy Carter reads House Resolution 573 which would designate 12 historical plates designed by Louise Irwin and manufactured by the Wedgewood Company as the official Georgia Historical Plates. The plates had been commissioned by the Transylvania Club of Sandersville to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Georgia. The resolution was adopted February 19, 1974. One member, Louise Irwin, in 1932 designed a collection of 12 Georgia Historic Plates for the 1933 Georgia Bicentiennel.
