Troutman Inn operated by Col. and Mrs. Hiram Baldwin Troutman. It was on a stagecoach line between Macon and Columbus. During the early 1830s Texas was fighting for independence from Mexico and volunteers from middle Ga. marched through Knoxville on their way to Mexico to fight. Joanna E. Troutman, age 17, presented them a flag she made. It is a blue star on a white background. This Lone Star Flag was later adopted by Republic of Texas.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-CR/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Architecture--Georgia--Knoxville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Business--Georgia--Knoxville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Armed Forces--Georgia--Knoxville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Hotels--Georgia--Knoxville</dc:subject><dc:title>[Photograph of Troutman Inn, Knoxville, Crawford County, Georgia, ca. 1870-1899?]</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
