United States, Georgia, Baldwin County, 33.06928, -83.249591861Baldwin County, 1861. Henry Crawford Vinson in the uniform of the Baldwin Blues. Vinson was the oldest son of Ebenezer Vinson, a plantation owner in Baldwin County. Henry was in the Confederate Army from Aug. 5, 1861 until he was captured during the the attack on Ft. Steadman on Mar. 25, 1865. Vinson participated in all the major battles in which the Baldwin Blues (Co. H 4th Ga. Vol. Infantry) fought. Vinson appears in this picture at the age of 19 and was the uncle of congressman Carl Vinson of Milledgeville. After the war Henry Vinson was a prosperous farmer at the family plantation in Baldwin County. Vinson entered the Confederate Army as a private and left as a 3rd Sgt.
