Randall served as a private in Company H, 100th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The 100th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry was organized at Camp Toledo, Ohio in 1862. In the spring of 1864, the infantry joined Union forces in Atlanta, Georgia, to participate in the Atlanta Campaign. On August 6, 1864, they engaged in an assault on the Confederate works. They were mustered out on June 20, 1865. Additional biographical information about H.E.
