My dearest Callie,
I have just come up from Cousin Mary Ann's having taken tea with her and have only time to say "alls [all's] well" and your letter with Joes [Joe's] greasy work on it has filled my heart with delight -- I shall [illegible text] into the other flat boat case tonight with a relish -- bless his little paw, I do prize the work so much -- I have been very busy to-day [today] -- tried four state cases and triumphed in three -- I got Joe Troup's friend Thos [Thomas] Sanders fined $65 -- Rhoda is grand ma [grandma] -- Clara had born unto [illegible text] yestarday [yesterday] a girl child --

I finished planting rye to-day [today] --
