Side portico of metal columns was added in 1884. Formerly the house had a wood parapet similar to the Ralph Small House. The porch is mounted by a horseshoe stairway with a wrought iron railing. The porch and balcony above the entrance are enclosed by a wooden balustrade. The house has heavy paneled doors and white marble mantels. Built between 1830 and 1840 by Elam Alexander for Judge Holt. Thaddeus Holt, Jr. occupied the house after his father's death in 1873. Afterward the house was owned by the Danenbergs, then the Martins, then Dure, who restored it in 1884, at which time the side porch was added. The house was owned by Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Peeler at the time of the HABS survey. LaFayette visited the house in 1825. For more information see Linley, John. The Georgia Catalog: Historic American Buildings Survey.
