Designed by Harry Carlson as part of the Ford Complex, the first level of the clock tower is the lobby, the second level once stored drama costumes, and the next three floors, now closed, housed studios and practice rooms for piano and voice students and a sewing room for girls' uniforms. Three sets of double doors lead from the lobby into the auditorium, which has a capacity of about 500. The balcony rim features four paired wood carvings of human figures from the Elizabethan period to pioneer days, and finally contemporary graduates in cap and gown. The sides of the auditorium feature cathedral windows and Biblical verses decorate the upper area of the auditorium. Once used for high-school girls' assembly programs, the Auditorium was later used as a chapel. Now the Auditorium is used for dramatic productions, talent shows, pageants, scholarly lectures, and other cultural events. For more information see Dickey, Ouida W., ed.
