The $3,000,000 project increased seating capacity by 19,640 seats bringing the total to 59,000. During the process, club level seating, the press box area and President's box were added. Named for Dr. Steadman Vincent Sanford, former University president and University System of Georgia chancellor, the original 1929 stadium cost $360,000, was constructed with convict labor, and seated 30,000. Other alterations to the structure included the 1940 addition of field level lighting; seating additions in 1949 and 1964; enclosure of the east and west ends of the stadiums in 1981 and 1991; lighting improvements in 1982; and the addition of the Lettermen's Club (1994) and the SkySuites and SkyClub rooms (1994, 2000).</dc:description><dc:description>Slide annotated: "Stadium, U. of Ga.
