The dome is topped by an octagonal lantern. Each side of the clock tower features four Ionic columns with rectangular and portal windows in the bays. The clock strikes the hour and half hour. The corner entrance to the building features a two-story portico with entablature and pediment supported by four two-story heroic unfluted Corinthian columns. The seal of the state of Georgia is centered in the pediment. The portico is echoed on each side facade by a projection with four Corinthian pilasters. There is a balcony with a decorative geometrical railing in the portico. Both balcony door and entrance feature fanlight transoms. The Courthouse is within the Madison Historic District.
