By logging the attempts to contact a darknet, one can gather information about the quantity, types, and sources of the attempts (primarily port scanning). Analysis of these logs can detect on-campus infections as well as off-campus attackers. Dan Newcombe, Clayton State University International Paper 2 Track: Administrative Computing/Data Management Level: Advanced The Office of Institutional Research at the University of Georgia frequently needs to integrate and consolidate data residing on IBM DB2 database systems and flat files into our Oracle database. For loading the data into the Oracle database from other data sources, traditional techniques are complicated and not efficient. Using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and Oracle Heterogeneous Service, we can connect to the IBM DB2 database from within the Oracle database seamlessly and simplify the ETL process. We examine the architecture of ODBC and Oracle Heterogeneous Service and then demonstrate the techniques for connecting the Oracle database on both Linux and Windows operating systems to the IBM DB2 database. We show how the system can be used to order chemicals via the built-in e-commerce capabili ty, generate barcode labels for the appropriate containers , scan the barcodes with a handheld scanner, upload the scanned barcod es into the system, and reconcile any differences between the scanned containers and the current inventory in the database. Also, we discuss how using the system can improve safety. We outline the implementation challenges of this project. Tables existed in HTML to display tabular data . Tables had an unanticipated side affect: a grid that designers could use to lay out images and te xt . However, this grid didn 't always work well with text readers, conform to accessibility guidelines, or display consistently in all browsers. Now it is possible for designers to achieve the same layouts and presentations using standard markup and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) . These pages load faster, are easier to redesign, and are more accessible to everyone. We demonstrate the use of CSS by breaking down the code in the Rock Eagle 2005 website.
