It is not possible for any individual to keep up with the developments in one's own area much less the total field of information and instructional technology. That is the challenge today as it was thirty years ago at the first Rock Eagle gathering. Then as now the purpose was to share information on new technologies and best practices that will help prepare us to succeed in this fast paced field. The Annual Computing Conference is a forum that facilitates collaboration and sharing through presentations, special interest panels, keynote challenge, discussions of institutional and system projects and one on one discussions. This is all done in an environment that allows the learning to take place in event rooms, vendor exhibit areas, standing under a pine tree, or sitting next to a campfire. Whether this is the first time or the tenth I am pleased you have decided to join us for a strong program focusing on the innovations and solutions being created to move our institutions forward inthese challenging times. Enjoy. We may even be aware of the fact that D.uickTime is the cross-platform multimedia architecture undergirding applications such as Adobe Premiere. Macromedia Director. and the like. Not known is the fact that D.uickTime is capable of doing a great deal more than present linear audio and video. This is because D.uickTime movies can contain more than two tracks. one for audio and the other for video. In fact D.uickTime movies may have any number of tracks and those tracks may contain a wide variety of media in addition to multiple audio and video tracks. They can contain text. hypertext references. RTSP streams. 'wired' sprites. VR. 3-0 and even javascript. In this paper we will explore several of these lesser-known D.uickTime capabilities from the prospective of an educational content creator. We will be asking the question.
