The supervisors of the Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District met a total of eleven (11) times in regular session during the fiscal year. Supervisors are: Rick Crawford (Chairman), Jeanie Hill (ViceChairman), Gene Hair (Treasurer), John Shearouse and Sam Booher. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month. They held their Annual Affiliate Members!Wildgame Supper on March 3, 2012 at the Blanchard-Eubanks Community Center in Appling Georgia. A wild game supper was prepared by the Supervisors and Commission Regional Staff. Approximately 50 people attended the supper. The District presented Chuck Anderson as the Conservation Educator ofthe-Year and Jim Steed, Logan Barns and Phillip Price gave presentations. The District reviewed and ratified five (5) erosion and sedimentation and pollution control plans and through the MOA with Columbia County, 338 plans were reviewed and ratified. Through the sponsorship of the district five (5) students were able to attend the Natural Resources Conservation Workshop at ABAC in Tifton, Georgia and they are also huge sponsors of Envirothon Teams. They are supporters of Central Savannah River RC&D and assisted them in rewriting their BY-laws; the Ag Teachers Association; GACDS and other local agencies.
