Georgia Veterans rests quietly on the shores of Lake Blackshear. Architect Denis Griffiths took a rich bottomland setting and turned it into a challenging golf course. Comments like the following earn ed the course a 3'/2 star rating. "Well designed... Long and tough... Great state park golf. "

Barely an hour east of Atl anta, thi s gem is worlds away from the normal city golf experi ence . The course is surround ed by acres of woodlands, with the meandering Hard Labor Creek challenging you on five of the holes. Thi s same creek creates th e gorgeous wa ter fall on the course's signature hole, the par 3 number 5. Hard Labor Creek Golf Course is defi ni tely a "gem worth finding."*

Laura S. Wa lker features a natural beauty rare in go lf courses today. Steve Burns' go lf design was able to preser ve much of that beauty by using native sand for th e many tr aps and waste areas. He also defined each fairway and landing area with gentl e, li nks-style mounds that accent the course's th ree large lakes. So natura l is the course - and so cl ose to the Okefenokee Swamp - that it's not uncommon to see an alli ga to r roaming the waterways. What better incentive to keep the ball in the fa irway?
