- INJ/1 2.oo,P- I 1 SI rl . C.3 LI I 1qq5 GEORGIA STATE PARKS & HISTORIC SITES I ! : CAMPING GUID! :,::::::: We've Got It All! When it comes to natural beauty, Georgia has it all - rolling green hills dotted with peaceful lakes ... lazy and mysterious cypress-filled swamps ... spectacular mountains full of folklore and fun ... salt marshes surrounded by moss-laced oaks. Whether you carry your gear on your back or prefer the luxury of a motorhome, Georgia's State Parks have a campsite for you. Forty-one parks offer more than 2,600 sites accommodating both first-time and experienced campers. Camping options include: Jiiil Tent/Trailer/RV - This is what most people think of when they hear "state park campground." These developed sites feature picnic tables, grills and/or fire rings, water and electricity. Parking is allowed right at the site, making "car camping" a breeze. Modern comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers are within walking distance. Some parks even provide recycling bins for your convenience. To better accommodate RVs, most parks have some pull-through sites. All campgrounds have at least one dump station, except au~ Florcuce Marina State Park, which.offers sewerage hookups at <:ach carnp?_k. Campers carry in their gear from a nearby parking area. Walk-in sites are an ideal option for campers who prefer to be separated from RVs and trailers. A Primitive - These remote campsites are accessible by hiking trail only. No trash containers, water spigots, toilets or electricity are available. All gear is packed in and out by the camper. Primitive campsites are for nature lovers who enjoy roughing it. n Equestrian - Horse lovers can saddle up and camp at two state parks. Hard Labor Creek State Park has equestrian campsites adjacent to stables and horse trails. Riders must bring their own horses since rentals are not offered. Water and electricity are available at each site, and a comfort station is nearby. To rent horses for day trips or overnight "city slicker" rides, visit Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park near Callaway Gardens. Only rental horses are allowed on these trails.
