On The Cover: Hunting, more than most other sports, is passed on from generation to generation throu gh the experiences of the youn g hunter provided by an older mentor. Surveys indicate tp at 75 % of hunters in Georgia began the sport before age 15 . More tha n 90% of Georgia hunters were introduced to hunting by the age of 20. During the past ten years, the number of teen aged hunters has been cut in half. This disturbing trend is also fo und in hunt.ers from 20 to 25 years old. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources provides many opportunities for young hunters through Adult/Child hunts on WMAs across th e state. Adult/Chi ld deer hunts are sched uled for 17 WMAs, and young hunters can try to bag a gobbler on Adu lt/Chi ld hunts provided at 4 WMAs. Quail, dove, and waterfowl Ad ult/C hild hunts are a lso ava il able.
