By doing so, there would be more money allocated to Employment Services and English Language Instruction, which are more paramount in accelerating self-sufficiency. Also, resources for Naturalization applicants are available through agencies such as United Way. By calling 211, they would be directed to their neighborhood service providers that offer Civic classes that may assist them with the applications. Jewish Family and Career Services (JFCS) received a grant from US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Under USCIS grant (October 1, 2010-September 31, 2011), JFCS will be offering 37 classes for English Language/Civics instruction and 24 Citizenship preparation classes to serve the total of 550 participants in both. JFCS will be also offering 27 tutoring sessions for those who need extra help and will be conducting 100 mock interviews. Total award is $100,000. 2009 -2010 Citizenship and Naturalization Page 2 of 2
