WHEREAS: There is presently pending in the Superior Court of Jeff Davis County an election contest which has been filed pursuant to Code Chapter 21-3; and

-WHEREAS:

The Clerk of the Superior Court of Jeff Davis County has advised that the Judge of the Superior Court in the adjoining judicial circuit who has the most years of service as a judge of the superior court is unable to preside over these proceedings; and

WHEREAS:

Code Section 21-3-421 provides that when the aforementioned judge is unable to preside, the Governor may appoint a disinterested judge of the superior courts or senior judge of the superior courts to preside over such proceedings.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED:

That Honorable David L. Cavender, Judge of the Superior Courts, is hereby appointed to preside over the proceedings of the election contest now pending in the Superior Courts of Jeff Davis

There is a need in this state for a drug prevention program. designed to help elementary school
children resist peer pressure to experiment with drugs and alcohol; and

WHEREAS:

Such a program should .give elementary school children the facts about alcohol and drugs, teach them how to make decisions on their own, and to help them identify positive alternatives to substance use.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED:

That the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Board is hereby created and established to develop a statewide drug prevention program designed to provide elementary school. children with the skills for resisting peer pressure to experiment with drugs and alcohol as described above, to - be responsible for developing selection criteria for instructors, and be responsible for the overall coordination of the program throughout the state.

REREAS:

During the 1990 Session of the Georgia General Assembly, the legislature enacted Senate Bill 250 (Georgia Laws 1990, p. 1701, Act No. 1383) which created the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board; and

WHEREAS:

Said Board shall consist of five members appointed by the Governor: one member shall be a public member not connected in any way with the practice of real estate appraisal, real estate brokerage or mortgage lending, and four members shall be real estate appraisers who have been actively engaged in the real estate appraisal business for at least three years, all members being residents of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

WHEREAS: There is presently pending in the Superior Court of Troup County an election contest which has been filed pursuant to Code Chapter 21-3; and

WHEREAS:

The Clerk of the Superior Court of Troup County has advised that the Judge of the Superior Court in the adjoining judicial circuit who has the most years of service as a judge of the superior court is unable to preside over these proceedings; and

WHEREAS:

Code Section 21-3-421 provides that when the aforementioned judge is unable to preside, the Governor may appoint a disinterested judge of the superior courts or senior judge of the superior courts to preside over such proceedings.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREaY

WHEREAS: The State of Georgia holds title to certain real

properties (the premises) located in Land Lot 98, 6th District, 4th Section of Chattooga County, now in the custody of the Department of Corrections; and

WHEREAS:

The Georgia Department of Corrections has determined that the premises consisting of 5.25 acres can no
longer advantageously or beneficially be used by the Department and is, therefore, surplus to its needs; and

WHEREAS:

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has determined the premises to be a suitable location for a new proposed Northwest Georgia branch crime laboratory and have requested the transfer in custody of said property by resolution of the Board of Public Safety dated June 6, 1990; and

WHEREAS: The Georgia Board of Corrections, by resolution dated June 7, 1990, has recommended the transfer in custody of the premises; and

WHEREAS:

The State Properties Commission, at its June 12, 1990, meeting, approved of the acquisition by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation of the premises by Executive Order; and

WHEREAS: The premises, for purposes of this Executive Order, shall be those real properties described in Exhibit "A" attached; and

WHEREAS:

I have determined that it is in the best interest of the State of Georgia to transfer the custody of the premises from the Department of Corrections to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
