--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------45-46, 151 INTRODUCTION This list replaces the 1953-1954 printed Georgia List and the 1954 and 1955 Supplements. All previous state lists should be discarded. All titles included in this list were approved by a Professional Library Committee. In addition to the Georgia Library List, selections may be made from the Standard Catalog for High School L\braries, the Children's Catalog, the Basic Book Collection for High Schools, the Basic Book Collection for Junior High Schools, and the Basic Book Collection for Elementary Schools. The state cannot furnish these lists, but they may be purchased with library matching funds. Schools desiring to purchase the first two catalogs must write to the H. W. Wilson Company, 950 University Avenue, New York City for a quotation. The price varies according to the size of the school, the smaller schools receiving a lower price. Titles may also be selected from the Reader's Choice of Best Books section of the Wilson Library Bulletin, the A.L.A. Booklist, Library Journal and the Horn Book. These publications appear on the Georgia Magazine List and may be purchased with matching funds. These are the only lists that have been approved by professional library committees as sources from which books purchased with school library matching funds can be selected. Publishers lists, catalogs or advertisements are not acceptable selection sources. County histories can be purchased with matching funds, but individual titles have not been listed. CATALOG SERVICE Catalog cards will be furnished for all books purchased with school or public state library funds, if they are requested on current book purchase orders. Cost of the service is 5 per title. The cost will be charged against the state allotment for public libraries. On school orders, the check accompanying the order, should include 1/3 the cost of the cards. Additional cards for a book will be available at the rate of one cent a card, if the librarian wants more cards for a book than are furnished with the original set. Requests for application blanks for the card service should be made to the Director of Catalog Service, 92 Mitchell Street, S. W., Atlanta 3, Georgia. The application must be filled out, promptly signed and returned to the director before the service can begin. ORDER DIRECTIONS New mimeographed Order Directions are prepared each year. Be sure to study the current order directions before placing an order with the State Department of Education. MAGAZINES AND AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIALS Magazines, maps, globes and other audio-visual materials can be purchased with state aid funds. Information about their purchase is contained in the Order Directions. ADDITIONAL SERVICES The services of the Division of Instructional Materials and Library Service may be requested by anyone wishing help in the selection of materials or advice about the organization and administration of libraries. Requests for visits to school libraries should be made to Mr. C. S. Hubbard, Director, or Miss Sarah Jones, Chief Library Consultant, Division of Instructional Materials and Library Service. 1 Class.
