Male graduates as a percent of the total graduates increased from 43% in 1947 to 46% in 1957 and 49% in 1968. High School Graduates INCREASED HOLDING POWER - The increased holding power of Georgia public schools is evidenced by the fact that the number of high school graduates increased 170% from 1950 to 1968, while the number of registered live births increased only 45% between 1934 and 1949, the years in which these graduates were born. The children born in 1934 entered school in 1940 and, after completing an eleven-year program, graduated in 1951. The children born in 1950 entered school in 1956 and, after completing a twelve-year program, gradu- ated in 1968.
