A Program Of The Georgia Department Of Community Health A SNAPSHOT OF georgiahealthinfo.gov Overview The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) launched georgiahealthinfo.gov, a health care quality and cost transparency Web site, in December 2008. Georgiahealthinfo.gov is a consumer-focused, onestop resource for information on health education, health care providers, health care facilities, and health care comparison/planning information in Georgia. The Experience Know before you go. The Facts of Georgia's Health Care. Georgiahealthinfo.gov enables consumers to make better health care decisions by providing them with access to information that supports the full spectrum of care such as disease and condition information, treatment plans, quality, cost, service information and local provider locations. Because no two patients are alike and neither is the patient base which facilities serve, the site helps consumers understand how to compare options and the data is risk adjusted to standardize comparative data. The information on the site is provided by objective and verifiable sources that have been reviewed and endorsed by accredited and trusted health care organizations. The Web site also includes summary information about the health care services supported through DCH such as health plan information, medication information, and quality ranking of the health insurance plans supported by the State Health Benefit Plan. Phased Release The Web site launch consisted of two phases. The first phase implemented technical architecture by IBM, MayoClinic.com health education content (prevention, wellness, and disease management information), and basic provider profiles including cost and quality comparison data. snapshot of web site content Health Educational Materials Wellness & Prevention Information Local Health Care Provider Profiles including: service offerings hours of operations license status maps and directions Quality and Cost Comparison Data Long-Term Care Decision Support Tool Health Plan Comparison The second phase included expanded provider profile information and the addition of a long-term care decision support content tool.
