An Overview of Georgia Families Overview Effective June 1, 2006, the state of Georgia implemented Georgia Families, a managed care program through which health care services are delivered to members of Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids. The program is a partnership between the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) and private Care Management Organizations (CMO) to ensure access to quality health care services for all of the Medicaid managed care members. By providing a choice of health plans, Georgia Families allows members to select a health care plan that fits their needs. The Medicaid Division of DCH also monitors the CMOs to ensure compliance with contractual requirement standards for contract management, member as well as, provider and quality services. Program Description Georgia Families provides health care services to children enrolled in PeachCare for Kids and certain men, women, children, pregnant women and women with breast or cervical cancer covered by Medicaid. Children in foster care are not enrolled in Georgia Families. The remainder of Georgia's Medicaid population which includes aged, blind and disabled citizens are not included in the Georgia Families program. Benefits Georgia Families members continue to receive the same benefits that are offered with Medicaid/PeachCare for Kids.
