T he Georgia Stude nt Fina nce Commission ad ministered student fin an cial ass istance to 264,308 students in fisca l year 2002, including 169,399 students who participated in Geo rgia 's HOP E Sc ho larshi p Program. Student loan s totaled 11 ,023, inc luding se rv ice-ca nce lable loan s to stude nts who promi sed to serve in teac hing, heal th care , and the Georgia Nat ional G uard as a met hod of repayment. In fiscal year 2002, st udent finan cial aid administered by the Commiss ion totaled more than $630 mill ion to stude nts enro lled in college s, universities, and technica l co lleges.
