By having offenders to participate in programs which address many reentry needs, the offender can gain the tools needed for a successful transition in to society. By identifying, recruiting and training persons and groups from the community, GDC can offer services and men- VOLUNTEER TRAINING COURSES Volunteers will participate in training sessions to assist them in learning how to deal with offenders as well as rules and guidelines of the Department. These programs include: Corrections Reentry Overview Games Inmates Play Sexual Misconduct Unlawful Harassment/Sexual Harassment' PREA ( Prison Rape Elimination Act) Infectious Diseases Right to Know Key Control and Emergency Procedures Volunteer Services Volunteer programs are offered in a variety of areas related to providing tools for a successful reentry for the offender. They in include: Institutional Volunteers Mentors Educators Counselors Tutors Musicians Librarians Volunteer Coordinators Ministerial Leaders Culturally diverse volunteers Volunteers: Youthful Offenders Volunteer Application Process Below is the procedure for starting the volunteer process: Contact the Facility Volunteer Coordinator where you intend to volunteer Fill out a Volunteer Application Return the application to the Facility Volunteer Coordinator All applicants must consent to a criminal history background check (GCIC/NCIC). The Facility Volunteer Coordinator will schedule a training class or direct you to a training sight for Orientation/Volunteer Certification Training.
