The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead department entrusted by the people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population. At the state level, DPH functions through numerous divisions, sections, programs and offices. Locally, DPH funds and collaborates with Georgia's 159 county health departments and 18 public health districts. EH Specialists in Georgia use their scientific education and training to investigate, evaluate, and eliminate environmental conditions harmful to people and communities. EH Specialists performs health inspections, investigates complaints, and provides health education and technical assistance. They implement programs for compliance, monitoring, enforcement and corrective action in conjunction with environmental health laws, rules and regulations. Goal Provide primary prevention through activities that identify, prevent and abate the environmental conditions that adversely impact human health.
