The fort protected Georgia against the British in both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Today, visitors can stand within earthworks from the War of 1812 and view scenic Saint Catherine's Sound. In the museum , visitors can see exhibits describing the colonial port of Sunbury and the military history of the site .
