This pamphlet presents our findings for Service Delivery Region (SDR) #11 Southern Georgia. Broadly defined, a green job is one that produces goods or provides services that benefit the environment. The work can be found in at least one of the five core green economic clusters listed on the back of this pamphlet. Nearly one percent of all jobs in this region are green, roughly the same percentage as in the state as a whole. Of the approximately 40,000 total green jobs in Georgia, 525, or a little over one percent, are located in this region. These jobs can be found in every green economic cluster except renewable energy, in sever major industry sectors, and in 18 different occupations. They range from jobs that do not require any education beyond high school to positions that require advanced degrees and extensive job experience. Survey Highlights Nine green jobs had an average wage higher than Georgia's mean wage ($20.56) for all occupational employment, and nine had an average wage ($22.75) higher than all green jobs combined. The average wage ($19.20) for green jobs in this region is 23 percent higher than the mean wage ($15.58) for all occupations combined. This region is one of three with wages in green jobs exceeding the regional average by more than 20 percent. One-third of all green jobs in SDR #11 are associated with environmental compliance, education & training, and public awareness, the largest share of this core area in any region. More than half of the green jobs in this region are in government.
