What is WIC?
WIC is a nutrition food program for women, infants and children. WIC helps you learn about good nutrition and help make healthy food choices. WIC gives nutritious food to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or new mothers and young children under 5 years old with nutritional needs. WIC foods are: eggs, milk, cheese, fruit juices, cereal, peanut butter, dried beans or peas and infant formula. Tuna and carrots are supplied to women who exclusively breastfeed their babies. WIC encourages breastfeeding because breast milk is best for most babies.

How to get WIC foods?

You must meet income requirements, even if you work. You or your child must need extra food to be healthy. You must go to the WIC clinic for regular appointments. You must live in Georgia.

Every time you are certified for WIC you MUST show proof: (1) Identification, (2) Address and (3) Family income
Some examples are:

Identification Driver's license Work or school ID card Picture ID card with
Social Security number

Address Utility bill (light, gas or water) Current Medicaid card Rent receipt (with name/address) Cable TV or telephone bill Post Office box receipt
(with name/address)

Family income Pay check stubs Food stamp documentation TANF documentation Current tax refund form Letter from employer

The people at the WIC clinic can help you and your family in many ways. They can refer you to other helpful services. Ask them for help when you visit the clinic.

Where are the WIC clinics?
