Nix State Superintendent of Schools INTRODUCTION This list contains the titles that have been recommended most frequently for inclusion in an elementary or junior high school reference collection and a few other titles that have been added by the Professional Library Committee. Librarians in larger junior high schools will need to use the Reference List for High Schools for more advanced materials. Titles included in this list may be purchased with state school library funds. If State funds are used, the orders should be prepared according to the directions that are followed in preparing and placing any other state library order. The symbol "GL-ER" should be used to designate the source of recommendation. Some titles listed may not generally be considered basic reference books, but they point up the value of using the entire library collection for reference purposes. Librarians may wish to purchase an additional reference copy of some of the less expensive titles even though the title is in the general collection.
