Nearly two-fifths of the farmers hire labor, the average amount expended by the farmers hiring being $116. During the decade the total expenditure for labor increased $5,974,000, or 82.5 per cent. A!bout a sixth of the amount reported as expended for labor is in the form of rent and board. At prior censuses no tabulation was made of the number of farmers reporting expenditures for labor. About one farmer out of every four reports some expenditure for feed, and about four out of every five purchase fertilizer. Th e amount expended for feed is $4,097,000, or $53.93' per farm. The total amount reported as paid for fertilizer has increased $11,122,000, or 193.8 per cent, during the decade, the average per farm reporting being $71.36 . COUNTY TABLES.
