 SERVICES OF THE GEORGIA RECREATION COMMISSION STATE CAPITOL, ATLANTA, GEORGIA 
The Georgia Recreation Commission was established for the purpose of assisting Georgia communities and their organizations to develop their leisure resources and opportunities for recreation. This purpose is fulfilled by (1) providing technical and professional assistance and counsel, (2) preparing and disseminating information on various phases of recreation services, (3) promoting acceptable standards, and (4) sponsoring "nd conducting training opportunities for professional and lay persons. 
Examples of the kinds of services which are provided are: Representatives meet with community groups (recreation study committees, city council, county commission, local action group, civic club, etc.) to discuss with them their recreation problems and in many instances, upon request, make specific written recommendations concerning steps to be taken to satisfy the recreation needs. 
Deliver speeches to civic clubs, etc. 
Preparing surveys, appraisals, and studies. Make recommendations relative to rural recreation enterprise. Refer the names of competent recreation leaders to agencies upon request. 
Make available publications dealing with various areas of recreation interests. Advise on problems related to facilities, legislation, personnel, financing, budgeting, planning, and the like. 
Directors of recreation agencies are urged to inform needful community groups of the Commission's services. Furthermore, it is also helpful if the Director will keep the Commission informed as problems arise and/or where interest in new programs occur. 
As the need fo'r additional services arise, Directors again are urged to bring these needs to the Commission's attention.

It is again our pleasure to make available to you a revised and even more comprehensive directory of the recreation agencies in Georgia. 
We hope that you will keep this publication readily available at all times. It has proven to be an excellent source of information in contacting fellow workers throughout the state. In addition to keeping a copy handy in your office, you may want an additional copy for your home and automobile. 
If your agency is not listed in this edition, please contact the Commission so that we can correct this omission in the next edition.

 INTRODUCTION 
The purpose of the Georgia Recreation Directory is to set forth the names of recreation agencies throughout Georgia along with their directors, addresses, and other information. 
For individuals and organizations outside the field of recreation interested in making contacts, this Directory provides detailed information on all reporting agencies. 
For the recreation administrator this Directory provides the resource for becoming better acquainted with fellow professionals in the field. It provides for easier, quicker contacts, and the opportunity for more cooperation and coordination in the provision of leisure activities for the citizens of this state. 
The three sections into which this Directory is formed make for easy access of information. The first section lists the recreation agencies according to the city in which they are located. No distinction is made as to whether the agency is public, private, commercial, etc. Section two, however, does make this distinction as the agencies are arranged categorically. Section three is simply a name index listing the names of all directors in alphabetical order along with the name of the city in which each is located.
