Field Operations Weekly Report March 3 March 9 2019 This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Division. Region I- Acworth (Northwest) No activity to report. Region II- Gainesville (Northeast) No activity to report. Region III- Thomson (East Central) No activity to report. Region IV- Macon (West Central) TALBOT COUNTY On March 4th Game Warden Ethan Franklin Game Warden Dean Gibson Game Warden Russell Epps Corporal Keith Waddell and Sergeant Brent Railey assisted the Talbot County Emergency Management Agency with tornado recovery. The Game Wardens used chainsaws to clear fallen trees that blocked access roads to homes. On March 8th Game Warden Dean Gibson Game Warden Charles Follin Cpl. Josh Swain and Cpl. Tony Wynne assisted the Talbot County Emergency Management Agency and Law Enforcement with traffic control and patrolled the areas affected by the tornado damage. The officers also blocked roadways so that debris removal teams could work safely. On March 9th Cpl. Josh Swain and Game Warden Ken Lalumiere assisted the Talbot County Emergency Management Agency and Law Enforcement with traffic control in the areas affected by the tornado damage due to the large number of volunteers coming in to assist with the tornado damage. Region V- Albany (Southwest) EARLY COUNTY On March 9th at approximately 12 30am Game Warden Quinn Fogle received a call about subjects parking on a landowners property and possibly hunting without permission. Game Warden Fogle went to the location and waited for the subjects to return to their vehicles. At approximately 3 30am the subjects returned and it was determined that the subjects had obtained permission to park on the property from a farmer who leases the property. The subjects were actually hunting on an adjacent property where they had permission however none of the subjects had a valid hunting license and the four were issued citations for hunting without license. Region VI- Metter (Southeast) CHARLTON COUNTY On March 9th Game Warden Joseph Cowart was in a hunting club South of St. George sitting over a trapper s rabbit boxes that were set the day before. Once the trapper came to check the boxes GW Cowart approached the individual. It was found that the trapper was targeting Skunks and Opossums with the rabbit boxes and he was aware that it was past trapping season. Violations of trapping out of season and failure to affix stamped metal tag were documented. DODGE COUNTY On March 3rd Sergeant James McLaughlin Corporal Dan Stiles Game Warden Chris Thompson Game Warden John Kennedy and Game Warden Allen Mills conducted a special detail at Dodge County Public Fishing Area. Four vessels and fifteen visitors were checked for license and regulation compliance. Violations for Entering Wildlife Resources Division property without a public lands pass and operating a vessel with expired registration were documented. LAURENS COUNTY On March 9th Sergeant James McLaughlin and Ranger First Class (RFC) Rodney Horne responded to a hunting hogs without permission compliant in Laurens County. After an in-depth investigation two poachers were found to have trespassed onto a property while hunting hogs. The two poachers each had a violation documented for hunting without permission and one poacher had a violation documented for hunting without a license. On March 9th Ranger First Class (RFC) Rodney Horne was patrolling the Oconee River looking for fishing and boating safety violations. RFC Horne located two persons in an oxbow lake fishing and documented two violations for fishing without a license on person. On March 9th Ranger First Class (RFC) Rodney Horne was conducting a night patrol at the Oconee River looking for fishing and boating safety violations. RFC Horne located two persons fishing limb lines and documented one violation for operating a vessel during hours of darkness without navigation lights. APPLING COUNTY On March 9th Sgt. Jon Barnard and Cpl. Chase Altman patrolled Appling County for boating and fishing activity. Two subjects were checked at Bishop Creek resulting in two violations documented. One for fishing w/o a license and one for operating a vessel w/o CGA PFD s. EVANS COUNTY On March 9th Game Wardens Patrick Gibbs Clint Jarriel Randell Meeks and Kevin Joyce worked a booth at the Evans County Wildlife Festival in Claxton. Roughly 1 200 individuals attended the two-day event most notably the Game Warden s biggest fan Samuel Sanders who plans to be a Game Warden when he grows up.
